About Me

My photo
I am a 42 year old woman that is about as happy and content as one person can be. My husband of 21 years and our 15 year old daughter live on five and a half acres out in the country. We moved from the city four years ago and never looked back. I homeschool our daughter. We also love our animals. Our daughter has a miniature horse and two rabbits. We also have a border collie, two cats (again), two pot belly pigs, four peafowl, three emus, 2 llamas and an undetermined number of chickens, lets just say ohhh about 200. I have many breeds, from layers to fancy chickens. I love poultry shows, I love fowl in general as I have come to find out through having more than just chickens. Chickens will always be my first love though. I do show some of my birds occasionally.

Here Comes The Weekend

Good Friday morning! The weekend is almost upon us, along with the Super Bowl. I have to tell you, I could care less as I am not a sports fan. I will watch hockey with Ian a little, but after that...I just lose interest. I imagine it had something to do with the fact that growing up my Daddy was not into sports. He was more into gardening. I was only exposed to sports after I met Ian. He was a soccer goalie for indoor and outdoor teams for many years. I can handle soccer, I can handle hockey, they are similar if you think about it. Dont like football, doesnt really interest me.

***************************

With that said, Sunday we will be having a Superbowl Party. Yay. Can you hear the enthusiasm that iminates from my letters being typed? That is because there is none. LOL

I do it for Ian though, he enjoys it, and having some friends over, eating, visiting, talking, watching tv.

***********************

I was going to make chili and cornbread, but it is going to be in the lower 60s and sunny for the weekend, so I opted for hamburgers, hot dogs, potato salad and baked beans. Ians friend John, who lives with his girlfriend Donna, and doesnt have a job, that sits on his butt all day...ahem, they will be coming. She is bringing finger foods. Brian will be here. I invited Karen and Tiffany too. Donna's son will be here. He is fourteen. I told Shelby to PLEASE wear a bra that day...lol. You know how it is, still a kid, but starting out teen years too...awkward.

**********************

Actually, I was hoping for a change. John had made mention that he might like to have the Superbowl Party at HIS house (NOT his house, HER house). I said to Ian, well heck yeah, let someone else do it all for once and I can sit back and enjoy. Except I think Donna told him uhhhhhh NO. We don't know that, but when he called me back he made up a bunch of lame excuses. We dont really have the room, y'all have more room. Blah blah blah. Whatever. Okay.

So I am sitting here, fixing to get up and start cleaning up. Got to dust, got to vacuum. Clean the bathrooms. Make sure all the laundry is done. Clean clean clean. Then we have to go help Brian move, which is no big deal, but it has to be done Saturday. Then we will drag our exhausted beat up bodies back home after catching a bite to eat somewhere. Then it will be up early Sunday to prepare all food before company gets here at around 2, which means, 12:30 or 1. Most people are late, the people we know are always early.

Once it is all over I will be glad to see Monday roll around.

I am such a hermit.

Once everyone is here I do have fun.

But I can take it or leave it.

*****************************

So anyway...I probably won't be back on here til Monday. I will see ya all when I get back.

OH one more thing. I have decided that these birds will be the ones I enter this year. Y'all flatter me saying I will win, but I won't. I am just a novice and I just go for the fun of it. We will see. If I get good marks that is good enough for me.

Johnny, Serama roo

Thelma and Louise, two silkie pullets

Rod, Sultan Roo

Kuckoo and Coco, the pair of White Laced Polish

For some reason I had it in my head that it was the weekend after this coming weekend. DUH. Its still two weeks away, lol, its on February 16th. So I have lots of time to prepare.

Good luck on the super bowl party. Glad it's not me hosting it LOL. You might be surprised to see that you could win with your chickens. Helen

I hate to host things, but it always seems like I'm the one that gets volunteered to do it.  It would be nice for once to be the one invited to someone else's house.  YEAH RIGHT.....I don't see that happening.  Try not to over do it cleaning.....after all they will probably just make a mess.

When my husband was alive he always looked forward to watching the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday. I would go mow and trim the grass. That was more fun to me. Now when John watches sports I just get om my computer. Paula

Good luck on your superbowl party! Sounds like  a lot of work.  And your chickens are beautiful...if you don't win I wonder what the "winning" chickens look like!

LOL, I had to laugh reading you were having a superbowl party after you had just said you didn't care at all.  That was pretty funny and I did pick up on the sarcasm.  I hope you have a good party anyway, heck with the game just enjoy the guests and food.
