About Me

My photo
I am a 42 year old woman that is about as happy and content as one person can be. My husband of 21 years and our 15 year old daughter live on five and a half acres out in the country. We moved from the city four years ago and never looked back. I homeschool our daughter. We also love our animals. Our daughter has a miniature horse and two rabbits. We also have a border collie, two cats (again), two pot belly pigs, four peafowl, three emus, 2 llamas and an undetermined number of chickens, lets just say ohhh about 200. I have many breeds, from layers to fancy chickens. I love poultry shows, I love fowl in general as I have come to find out through having more than just chickens. Chickens will always be my first love though. I do show some of my birds occasionally.

Moving Day For Brian

Saturday morning started early. We all got up and got out of here around 7:30 a.m.

Today was moving day for Brian...hopefully his last for a long time to come. It took him a year to get back on his feet while staying with his mom after Karen and him broke up and lost the house they were in, but he did it.

(For the record, there is a LOT more to that story...but lets just say we have all let bygones be bygones...and well, they are kinda sorta together again, but not FINANCIALLY dependent on each other.)

We stopped for breakfast at Ryans breakfast bar. Running late...but I wasnt going to sweat it. We were not on a strict schedule. We ate and got back on the road. We got to my parents around 10:30 a.m. and dropped Shelby and the dog off to visit the grandparents for the day. The storage facility was not too far from there. Brian had already been loading a lot of smaller stuff, stacking boxes. The heavy stuff was a bear, but Ian and Brian managed. I stacked clothes and jackets, hats, etc in the back seat of my truck. All in all it didnt take too long at all. They were going to have to get the heavy things out first when they arrived at the house...so I opted to go pick up some drinks and ice and a few things Mama needed to make chicken and dumplins. I went back to Mama and Daddys and helped Mama make dinner (she wanted to know how I made drop dumplins). Afterwards I headed down to Brians new house thinking they would surely be done with the heavy stuff...

Here is Brians new house...we are so proud that he has done this all on his own.

See Ian standing there at the front door inside the moving truck? Do you see his hand...yep, he is talking on the phone. Not really his fault. John Kell calls him a lot...just to talk. He had tried to tell him they were moving stuff...but John just keeps on talking.

Having a look around...Brian is showing me the house...

The last one is of the beautiful stone flooring in the living room...I thought it was very pretty. Cold on the bare feet probably though, so Brian had put down an area rug in the living room.

We moved stuff, and moved stuff. Ian and Brian put stuff together. We were there til I think around 11 pm. Then we still had to get Shelby and the dog. We finally made it home at around 1 am. If Ian hadnt drove, I dont think I could have. I would have had to stay at Mama and Daddys for the night. They offered, but we had people coming over the next day for Super Bowl and we had to get home.

You know, I forgot how noisy neighborhoods can be. An easy thing to put out of your mind.

Funny thing is, he said he thought the neighborhood was quiet...lol.

There were folks walking their dogs...driving by...you could hear people talking. Normal sounds I guess. Living out here has spoiled me. I am not used to other human sounds encroaching on my ears.

As long as he is happy with it, that is what matters, and he seems to be. I think he has done very well. :)

I want that floor for my kitchen one day and all the countertops replaced.  It's encouraging to know that a person can rebuild their lives.  You know you're a real good friend when you help somebody move their stuff.  The house is so beautiful.  I hope he'll be happy in it.

The house is beautiful.  Even a farmhouse type girl like me would be proud to own it.  WTG Brian.

The house is gorgeous, he should be proud of himself.  I love the stone floor, that is what I want to put in my kitchen....if we ever decide to actually do it!!  Isn't moving just horrible!!  Don't you hate when people call and you try to tell them you are busy and they just go on & on.  I couldn't live near people anymore either, if we visit someone else I think I will go crazy with all the sounds until we leave.  We do get spoiled easily, don't we.
