About Me

My photo
I am a 42 year old woman that is about as happy and content as one person can be. My husband of 21 years and our 15 year old daughter live on five and a half acres out in the country. We moved from the city four years ago and never looked back. I homeschool our daughter. We also love our animals. Our daughter has a miniature horse and two rabbits. We also have a border collie, two cats (again), two pot belly pigs, four peafowl, three emus, 2 llamas and an undetermined number of chickens, lets just say ohhh about 200. I have many breeds, from layers to fancy chickens. I love poultry shows, I love fowl in general as I have come to find out through having more than just chickens. Chickens will always be my first love though. I do show some of my birds occasionally.

Kuckoo and Cocos Turn

I dont know why I am so tired...yawn...

I have been up since 4 am...and the coffee buzz has worn off now...but I got the last two done.

Coco was not very cooperative. She tried several times to jump out of the sink and went to flapping wildly...which is the equivalent of a wet dog shaking out its wet fur on you. After I got done with her she was better with the blow drying...but she was bobbing her head around a lot.

Kuckoo was better in the sink...and acted about the way Rod did, like he was just gonna DIE from having a bath...as he lay there head down and turned to the side, a crumpled heap in the sink. Pitiful...lol. When I tried to blow dry him thats when he wanted to get away...but I finally got him to just sit down and relax.

Neither one is completely dry...but they will be by tomorrow and I can get some good pictures of them then.

Hehe, wet chickens.  If it weren't for you, I'd never have known you could bathe a chicken.  LOL.

Poor things don't know what is happening to them. They are going to look so pretty in the show. Wish I could see them. Helen

Sounds like they act like kids who have to take a bath. LOL

I'm sorry you lost some of your precious chickens. Hope you catch the culprit. That caused you a lot of extra work. Would like to watch a chicken bathing process. Paula

Wow! That is something with giving them a bath and drying them. Looks like a lot of work to me. I didn't even know they bath these chickens... but guess it makes sense if you show them. :-) Did you ever find out what was killing your chickens?  That would really upset me. My neighbor loves to shoot dogs. :(  I bet you are tired! Hope you had a wonderful Valentine's Day. Blessings, Janie

Oh, they are so cute!  I can't wait to get my chickens!  One of my neighbors up the road has a hen who is sitting on eggs. They are not sure if they will hatch since it has been so very very cold...but they are giving her and her babies to us since they have too many chickens!  We can't wait until we have a barnyard full. If you are ever wanting a good loving home for chickens and you are in KY, we will love them and never eat them.

love, Kas
