About Me

My photo
I am a 42 year old woman that is about as happy and content as one person can be. My husband of 21 years and our 15 year old daughter live on five and a half acres out in the country. We moved from the city four years ago and never looked back. I homeschool our daughter. We also love our animals. Our daughter has a miniature horse and two rabbits. We also have a border collie, two cats (again), two pot belly pigs, four peafowl, three emus, 2 llamas and an undetermined number of chickens, lets just say ohhh about 200. I have many breeds, from layers to fancy chickens. I love poultry shows, I love fowl in general as I have come to find out through having more than just chickens. Chickens will always be my first love though. I do show some of my birds occasionally.

Company, Farrier, Story

P1030103

Good Saturday morning. It is December and time to get into that Christmas spirit. I decided not to decorate until after company this weekend, but, it isnt going to do me a lot of good because we are having company next weekend also!

Turns out Kenny and Billie and their two kids were not able to come this weekend. So, we planned for next weekend.

Karen and Tiffany will still be coming over today, but until last night I was going to save the chili and cornbread for next weekend.

Erin called me yesterday evening and asked what I was going to be doing today, told her not much just hanging around the house. She asked if Mike and her could come for a visit and I said SURE! I am glad they are coming. They are bringing Mikes youngest daughter Abby, she is 10. His oldest Emily has gone into her rehab type facility for as long as it takes for her to get her head on straight so she wont be here.

I reckon we are just gonna have to have that CHILI and CORNBREAD after all! Have to if we are going to have a house full. So now I got to think up something for next weekend. I will cross that bridge later.

This tree you see above is last years Christmas tree. We will be going to get one soon though.

Being as we are having company I better get up and get moving this morning. I have had my coffee and its time to get up from this chair and see what I can get done.

Supposed to be a sunny 63 here today...sure is going to feel good.

The farrier came day before yesterday to trim Derby. He has just turned out to be the nicest guy. We always end up jawing a while after he finishes Derbys feet.

This time he brought out the stand. He says some horses are scared of it and think its a monster thats going to get them. He usually does not use the stand on minis, but he said Derby could really use a good filing and cleaning up so he was going to do it.

I was amazed. Derby stood quietly with no fuss. Marshall put his foot up on the pedestal and I let Derby use me for balance to help keep him still. He leaned on me a little while Marshall fixed him up. Then onto the other front hoof. His feet looked like new feet when he was done.

Derbys front feet were getting wide, spread out looking, even with the trim. Now his front feet look like his back feet. Nice and upwardly rounded. Did that make sense? Anyway, I was really pleased with his work. Looked really good.

After he finished we got to talking. He is also an EMT for the fire department up further north of here. He was telling me quite a tale. Never ceases to amaze me how wild and stupid people can be.

He tells me they got a call for lacerations. That can be anything, never know what your walking into. Him and his coworker get there in the ambulance and find the Sheriff and two deputies chasing a nekkid as a jaybird raving lunatic woman around the inside of the trailer. There is blood and feces spread all over the walls in the trailer. After the Sheriff and his deputies managed to tackle the crazy nude woman they proceeded inside.

He found a man, laying face down on a mattress...no sheets, nothing, just a mattress. His coworker kicked the mattress and says,

"Hey man, whats the matter with you?"

The guy rolls over with blood all over his face and head and says,

"I don't know, but I got one HELL of a headache!"

Marshall gets out his kit and starts cleaning the guys face up. As he is wiping his forehead down...the cloth he is using to wipe him with gets caught on something...in his forehead. Once he cleaned the area enough he could see...

it was a bullet! A bullet from a .22 pistol, lodged in his forehead, in the bone. That crazy woman had shot him in the head!

NO WONDER HE HAD A HEADACHE! and Marshall told him as much.

He said they had drugs, a meth lab, all kinds of trash going on inthat place.

People are crazy.

Well I have yammered on enough this morning. I will see y'all Monday morning...be good. Have a nice weekend.

OH I reckon I will just decorate during the week this coming week...no since in putting it off anymore, it is December now.

Its just pitiful to me that some people live crazy like that when there is so many good things to do like raising chickens or cows. Paula

Kelly, I'm glad Derby was a good boy for the farrier.  That is a funny story about the crazy lady and bullet head man!  Linda

I guess "take two asprin and call me in the morning" won't work for his headache!  Wow!

Would you please quit saying chili and cornbread!!  I am just about addicted to chili, there is no makings in the house and I don't go to shop until tomorrow.  ;o)  -  bArbara

That guy must have been wasted if he didn't know he was shot.  Doesn't meth sound like such a joy to do - gee, the fun you can have!  You know I am being sarcastic.  I'm glad Derby's feet are coming along so good, you've done a great job with him.  The supplements must be working wonders too.  I hope you have a wonderful weekend!!!!

There is a neighboring town that sounds just like that place.  Did that happen in Cherokee county.  I couldn't help but laugh picturing nekkid fat lunatic woman running in a trailer and three people after her before someone caught her.  Your tree from last year was so pretty.  Hope you get yours up soon.
