We, my family, have started walking. Even the dog goes. We go to the Silver Comet Trail in the next town over. The Trail runs for ninety something miles I think now. It is an old railbed that has been converted into a bike path, but folks can walk it too.
I am fixing to turn forty years old in May. Ian IS forty. Shelby needs more exercise as does the dog. We could all stand to lose some weight, especially me. You may wonder why I dont ever show my pictures in my journal...well..cause I am fat, and even though I am very active, it doesnt come off. Wintertime makes matters much worse as I am not outside working.
It is time. Time to stop this madness and get off. Eat right, and go walking. We are doing just a mile and a half now. That works out to roughly a thirty minute walk. Next week we will up it five minutes, and the next five more, so forth and so on.
I dont want to die, but if I dont do something, eventually the dam is going to burst and things are going to start going wrong. This scares me. I don't want to be 55 years old and die. My MIL was only 55 when she died.
Its time to start taking care of my family and me. So we are working on it, day by day. Eating healthy, and walking.
We did not wait for the New Year for this, NOW is the time to do it, now and from NOW ON. Time for a lifestyle change, for real.
Anyway, here are some shots from along the trail.
I will have some photos to share of the other two babies hatched out yesterday later on. Right now I got to get moving and get some chores done. Everyone have a great Saturday!

I am doing to same thing...... at the hospital, if I go to the cafeteria, I make very conscious choices, and I can tell the difference in how I feel afterward..
the walking trail is gorgeous! we are working on something very similar here.
take care

That is a great idea to start the whole family walking. Best thing you can do. I used to walk everyday for years then this back started taking a toil on me so I don't walk now. I loved your pictures. I am surprised there is any water in that stream dues to the drought conditions. Looking forward to seein the other two babies. Thanks for sharing. Hugs, Helen
With beauty like that to enjoy, walking should be a breeze. I'm proud of you! - Barbara
I know where this is!!! Last year I walked so much and lost so much weight. THis year I am huge again, blew out my knee and my back. But i f you were to meet me in person, I'm just this vivacious energetic lady and you probably wouldn't see me as the fat person I am, unless I walked away, and OMG, the view. I need to lose weight as I want to stay around a long time too. Maybe if Dirk would get me a dog to walk it would help. I can't get him to come around on it though. We LOVE going out and walking the park together.
Have a happy 70 degree weekend!

Beautiful pics! I turned 40 this past Feb and I LOVE IT! I am so happy at this age that I don't want to turn 41. LOL
A pretty place to walk. My husband had a stroke at a young age and when he got better we walked at night for 45 minutes no matter how cold or hot it was. We even bought those ski mask for cold that only shows the eyes and mouth. We had to take them off when we stopped at the convience store so they didn't think we were going to rob the place. lol Have fun! Paula
Oh I love the sky picture ~ awesome! It looks like a great place to walk. Good for you guys, starting to walk!!! It's nice family time & good for you too so you can't beat that. I really need to make some lifestyle changes myself...quit smoking - yes that is a big one and eat better. Since I don't really cook all of our food is either take-out (pizza & subs) or frozen meals which are loaded with bad junk!!!! I know what you are saying about taking care now instead of when it is too late.

wow that sky pic looks like a big ball of fire. It's awesome! Looks like you have a very relaxing place to walk. Your doing the right thing with adding the family in on the walks...it's exactly what we need to do.
That is great. I started eating less and have lost 6 lbs so far in about 3 weeks. I'm sure all the excercise I got yesterday helped too! We have some walk/bike trails around the area too, but none closer than 5 miles or so. Still we live in the country and can walk on the roads but people here drive like maniacs with no regard to speed limits or the middle of the road!
I wish you had put a description under each photo. These are wonderful. Is the rock, slate?

Good for you!! I'm glad you aren't waiting. At forty I started line dancing then went on to do Country-Ballroom and for the next 10 yrs I never felt so good. Then I had a Lupus crisis, but I knew that I had done good.
Love the clouds in that last picture...Bethe
Good for you for getting out there and walking! The pictures are beautiful!
