About Me

My photo
I am a 42 year old woman that is about as happy and content as one person can be. My husband of 21 years and our 15 year old daughter live on five and a half acres out in the country. We moved from the city four years ago and never looked back. I homeschool our daughter. We also love our animals. Our daughter has a miniature horse and two rabbits. We also have a border collie, two cats (again), two pot belly pigs, four peafowl, three emus, 2 llamas and an undetermined number of chickens, lets just say ohhh about 200. I have many breeds, from layers to fancy chickens. I love poultry shows, I love fowl in general as I have come to find out through having more than just chickens. Chickens will always be my first love though. I do show some of my birds occasionally.

Some Questions Answered and Comments

Helen, lol, you cracked me up when you said you were thinking of the wrong END! He he...also like your enterpretation of the bug gut smear on the windshield. I like it much better as a ghost coming out of the barn rather than what it really is. ;)

Diane, here is a picture of a beautiful white peacock for you. :)

Lisa, what is the shipping cost on bison these days??? LOL!

Linda (in WA), I won't be able to tell the boys from the girls for a while. The india blue boys will get that blue color, so it will be easier then, but the males still dont get their full train of feathers until they are three years old, so I have a while to wait on that beautiful sight. The white one will be especially hard to tell until it gets its train, or not if its a female.

Linda, there are many variations of peafowl. The whites and the india blues are my favorite. Here are a few pictures of some of the variations.

Just click on the link and click on the underlined types and it will take you to a picture of that type. Link below.

Now, on a side note. No matter how I ask this, its going to sound like I am fishing for comments. I promise, I am not. But, with that said, when I DO get a lot of comments I would like to have my journal recognized on the most commented section on the main journals page. The reason being, someone may see it that has never visited me and come to read and really enjoy my journal. With that said, with all the comments I got yesterday, why is my journal not listed, never was listed, yesterday or today, on the most commented? I know I shouldnt care, but it makes me feel like I don't count. Is that wrong? Should it matter? Probably not. I just know I like to share my joy of my animals with as many people as I can.

This entry gave me a chuckle, bug gut smear huh LOL. I really thought it might be where a cow had left a waste pile in the barn but then I thought, surely not that much steam LOL and it didn't look as though the barn was used anymore so I decided on the ghost factor. Did you ever see the picture that went around for a while showing a white peacock with his tail in a full spread? That thing was beautiful. The one you have pictured is beautiful also. We need a little humor once in a while don't we. Helen

PS I missed the last paragraph. It sometimes seems like the same people get listed on the main journal page. I think they must add several day together LOL. Dad should have been listed yesterday. I haven't checked out the journal page in a while. Hugs, Helen

Someone emailed me about that once. She said she'd done several entries in one day & had more comments than I (I'd done one entry) if you added the comments on all her entries of the day.  She was wondering why I was "higher" on the most commented list.  Uh, I don't know. I just write my entry, I don't know how they count my comments :-0.  But from that, I'd thought many they are just counting the comments on the last entry done for the day? Or the first entry of the day? but not all the entries in one day. Otherwise, it would not make sense you didn't show up.

The white peacock is stunning...wow!  I'd rather deliver her, then we can hang out for a while. :)
Honestly I never look on the main journals page.  It has been months since I have been there so I don't know the answer to your question.  I go by my alerts and if someone mentions a new journal in an entry I'll go visit from there.

I thought of the wrong end too when I saw the picture.  I had never ever seen a white peacock before this journal.

I have been saying and saying that not everybody who gets a lot of comments get put on that thing.  I swear there's a trick to it and everybody says, no no it isn't.  I'll tell you privately why Dirk and I have almost proved that it is.  I also know you don't want to be listed for selfish reasons and understand and believe your motives but its hard to say without sounding like it though.

I sure do wish LISA would come down here with a BUFFALO for you and stop by my house too.  I love that lady too.

Thanks for the boy/girl explanation. Meanwhile you (and us via pictures) can just enjoy them.  That picture of the white peacock is stunning!  What a beautiful creature !  And I don't now the answer to your other question about journal comments, etc and being featured on the journal home page.  I've been told that mine is there once in awhile but I don't ever remember to check it. I totally think it matters that you weren't listed. I would feel the same way Kelly. Maybe try emailing a couple of the blogger guys. I will email you their sites ok?
