About Me

My photo
I am a 42 year old woman that is about as happy and content as one person can be. My husband of 21 years and our 15 year old daughter live on five and a half acres out in the country. We moved from the city four years ago and never looked back. I homeschool our daughter. We also love our animals. Our daughter has a miniature horse and two rabbits. We also have a border collie, two cats (again), two pot belly pigs, four peafowl, three emus, 2 llamas and an undetermined number of chickens, lets just say ohhh about 200. I have many breeds, from layers to fancy chickens. I love poultry shows, I love fowl in general as I have come to find out through having more than just chickens. Chickens will always be my first love though. I do show some of my birds occasionally.

One More Entry, Then I Will Shutup For Today ;)

The next morning...your gonna love this...I woke up to Sherry and Kelly's alarm clock (her 'husband' is named Kelly) (They have been together forever, but never got married). But it wasnt the old annoying buzzer, or a loud radio station playing...it was a womans electronic sounding voice...saying...

"THE TIME IS NOW 6:45! IT IS TIME TO GET UP!"

This said over and over about 6 or so times. Then it was quiet. Fifteen minutes later...

"THE TIME IS NOW 7 O'CLOCK! IT IS TIME TO GET UP!"

Too funny...I dont think I have ever heard of an alarm clock like that.

So Sherry was up, the baby was up, Kelly got up and got ready and out the door to work, Kelsey out the door and on the bus at 7:30. The baby had her bottle and back down for a little nap at 8:30 am. Ahhhh...a peaceful morning ahead of us. It was raining, that sleepy kind of rain, with a breeze outside. We had coffee and some cereal...more talking of course. We were winding down though. I told her I knew we would both think of something we wanted to tell the other about after I was on the way home, but thats okay, we can save it for next time.

We sat around on the computer for a little bit. I loaded the pictures I had taken onto her computer and she had been meaning to sign up for Freecycle so we did that. We had our delicious leftovers of the pork chops and mashed potatoes with gravy. Rebecca up from her nap and us still in our jammies lazing about Sherry took just a FINE picture of me at my BEST..lol. I was holding Rebecca. Yes, I will show it to you...I am what I am...and what you see is what you get. I started gathering things about 2:30 and was out the door a little after 3:30. It looked like rain was coming and I was in for a rainy ride home. I was right. From Pine Mountain at the look out (see pics below) across from the Calloway Gardens gift shop on it was rainy. It wasnt too bad though, nothing torrential, just a soft rain all the way home. There is this little building on the side of the road that I always pass, and always say I want to take a picture of...and of course I picked this time, when its raining to do it. Oh well..that pic is below also. I got home and it kept raining for the rest of the evening. The animals had to wait to see me til the next morning...and you better believe they were happy to see Mama. :)

Alright, here are some pictures...oh I forgot, the pictures you see of the police cars and the school buses was something I came up on. I couldnt tell what exactly happened, but there was an ambulance there. They were shuffling children onto another school bus as one was being towed away.

That's a GREAT picture of you & Rebecca Lynn.  I have always wanted a picture of that building also.  It's the one below Carrollton on 27 isn't it?  I'm so glad that you got to go visit with Sherry.

LOL on that alarm clock. We have a thermometer that talks like that but we turned it off to only show the temp LOL. You really got in a lot of rain all that far. It looks as if someone has preservered that building. That is a great picture of you and Rebecca. Glad that you are safely home now. Hugs, Helen

I'm glad tp see another picture of you so I can recognize you when you show up.  That baby looks surprised in that photo.  LOL

I have never heard an alarm clock like that.  It might be annoying if you're not expecting it.

I like the other pictures of those buildings even though I'm not really familiar with them.

I don't like driving in the rain because the worst drivers come out in front of you and then squat, or apply the breaks.

I'll bet the animals and your family were happy to have you home too.

Miss you.

Like all the pictures. The small buildings are interesting too. Not long ago when we were out driving we saw a small red building in the middle of a field. I commented on it and John said he thought someone used it for an office building but I can't remember for what. Are you and Sherry already olanning your next visit? Friends you've had so long are among the best. Paula

All the pictures are beautiful. TY for sharing. It is so funny because the baby looks so much like my next door neighbor's little grand-daughter when she was that age. Things like that always seem so funny to me. They could pass for twins. Too bad I did not take a picture of her. She is so cute and isn't it nice that she is a good baby. My little 2 year old grandson is so good. I am sure you guys had just a wonderful time visiting. Sure the animals were glad to see you too! Like mine... spoiled! lol Blessings, Janie

I love the pictures!  Especially the one about the sweet potatoes (curing and storage)!  Only in the South!  My husband needs that alarm clock!

What a precious picture, I love it!

Would you believe I had a dream about one of your chickens?  In my dream it was yours...it was black with white spots and it was one of those fancy ones...

For some reason I was at a fair or something and you were there selling some and I saw it and fell in love.  I told Michael I had to have it and he thought I was off my rocker wanting to bring a chicken home.  :)

AWWW I LOVE those babies eyes on that pic...it's like WHAT!?  Your taking a picture?!  LOL  My hair used to be exactly your color but now it's a little darker...hubby likes it a little darker.  I'm ok with it tho.  Hey, you can't see my grey! ;)  I'm trying to catch up with all the entries you've been busy!
