Aren't they just the cutest thing? The emus have grown used to having them around and don't try to eat them anymore. That is definitely a GOOD thing!
Last count yesterday was sixteen keets. I found one dead, tangled in the chicken wire that is down on the ground around the WEED garden, per a lot of goat help. I have got to get that wire rolled up. They just aren't smart at all when it comes to these types of things. They will walk right under a bit of chicken wire down on the ground and be trapped and die right there. This is what happened..never mind it could have just gone back out the way it came in. They panic and try to go up and out through the holes. I felt bad about it, but I can't watch them all day. I guess this is why they hatch so many because some just dont survive. Two have just disappeared. I don't know where they are. The mother and father are starting to take them into the field of cut wheat next door. Its not very high, but for a little keet, they can get lost in there. They do cry if they get seperated, but that is no guarantee it will be found by one of the parents and brought back to the others. They really need to stay in the fence, I sure wish they would.

They sure are growing and getting to look more like Guineas now. Still cute though. I am glad the emus don't bother them anymore. Great pictues. Hugs, Helen
Boy they sure are growing!!! I'm glad the emus are getting along with them now. Reckon it's because they are bigger?

I haven't been able to come by in a couple weeks, but wow! they grow so fast. I loved seeing them eating with the Emu's. (Hugs)Indigo
Guess I don't need to say they are growing so I'll say that emu has its legs crossed like it has to go pee pee. Paula

We have two females and they roam the yard with the other 4 white meat chickens and then go in the pen by themselves at dusk. My husband trained them to do this. We just cannot figure out how to get the guineas to quiet down at times-the neighbor is getting angry!
