About Me

My photo
I am a 42 year old woman that is about as happy and content as one person can be. My husband of 21 years and our 15 year old daughter live on five and a half acres out in the country. We moved from the city four years ago and never looked back. I homeschool our daughter. We also love our animals. Our daughter has a miniature horse and two rabbits. We also have a border collie, two cats (again), two pot belly pigs, four peafowl, three emus, 2 llamas and an undetermined number of chickens, lets just say ohhh about 200. I have many breeds, from layers to fancy chickens. I love poultry shows, I love fowl in general as I have come to find out through having more than just chickens. Chickens will always be my first love though. I do show some of my birds occasionally.

Eggs

Good morning! There must be something in the air...Shelby was up as early as I was this morning way before daylight, and when I told her I had only had four and a half hours of sleep, she said Ditto. So neither of us could sleep and we arent sleepy now. I know it will catch up with us later..especially if these dark clouds keep rolling in. Rain always makes me sleepy.

I am getting a lot of eggs these days now that the new girls are laying. Some of them are really whoppers too. I will have at least three or four a day that bottom out the scale...and the scale only goes to extra large!

I really don't have a whole lot going on this morning, just the usual. School, laundry, cleaning. Later there will be feeding and watering...then its off to the feed store and to pay the water bill. We never did get to the store yesterday so we are going this afternoon. I learned last week that I NEVER want to go on a Saturday again, so we WILL be going this afternoon. Ian had to work over though, so it couldn't be helped. Figures he starts working overtime voluntarily and then the very day he plans to take off regular time they need him to stay.

Here are a couple of pictures from yesterdays egg washing. You can see one of the big gigantic eggs sitting on the scale there..if it could go past that mark it would..that was a whopper of an egg.

I hope everyone has a wonderful Friday, and a great weekend. See you all tomorrow. :)

Oh one more thing. I have not heard from Jackie even though I have emailed her and left a comment on her journal trying to get her to respond. Does anyone know what is going on with her? Is she alright? I am concerned, although I see her name pop up on the Buddy List, I havent gotten an email from her lately. Her journal is Do You Remember...ggjack7 is her screen name. I am just a little worried about her, she just quit posting and replying and sending emails suddenly.

The eggs look beautiful. I have did the same about Jackie. Janie and I said a prayer for her in case she needs it. Very strange that she posted and commented regular. I too have her on my buddy list and noticed her name there. I hope she is okay. Paula

You do have a lot of eggs and they look good.  When you say egg washing, what do you wash them with?  I think that is what turns me off so much to fresh eggs - when I collect ours they are so dirty.  I've never seen an egg scale before either, cool.

Wow - I never thought I'd enjoy seeing pictures of eggs, but these are great. They would make one heck of an omelet! It almost makes me want to start raising chickens. Wanna trade some for a cat?       Jon
