About Me

My photo
I am a 42 year old woman that is about as happy and content as one person can be. My husband of 21 years and our 15 year old daughter live on five and a half acres out in the country. We moved from the city four years ago and never looked back. I homeschool our daughter. We also love our animals. Our daughter has a miniature horse and two rabbits. We also have a border collie, two cats (again), two pot belly pigs, four peafowl, three emus, 2 llamas and an undetermined number of chickens, lets just say ohhh about 200. I have many breeds, from layers to fancy chickens. I love poultry shows, I love fowl in general as I have come to find out through having more than just chickens. Chickens will always be my first love though. I do show some of my birds occasionally.

Time To JUST DO IT

I am not going to sit here and sugar coat things for ya...there are days I wish I didnt have to go outside. People, it is HOT. Its HUMID. Its in the mid nineties here already and the heat index last time I looked was 112.

So I have sat here and read journals, and made entries, drank coffee and basically hem and hawed over going out there. I have to go out there now though.

Thank goodness we have a pool. I will be dipping myself in it probably every ten or fifteen minutes just to stay cool.

I don't know whats worse...July going on August...or January and February. Either way, these four months are the most brutal for me and for the animals I have and care for.

They are depending on me though...so out I go. See y'all tomorrow if I haven't melted. ;)

I'm so glad I live here in the Pacific Northwest...oh it can get cold & snowing in the winter but never lasts long.  And if it gets over 85* in the summer, we all start melting....but it only last for a couple months.  Today it's supposed to get up to a whopping 78*and there's a slight breeze...Perfect! Jump in that pool whnever you can.  Linda in Washington state

I don't know how you do it!  It's 75 here and I'm already hot! LOL  It is muggy tho too...I HATE muggy...I don't do muggy!  I gave my little ones cold ice water and they love that.  The rest are still in the cool basement and they are enjoying that. I even have to keep the heat light on the little ones yet...it's prob 68 degrees down there.  72 up here.  I GOT THE EGGS today!  :)  They are in the cooler resting and I will set them about 4 or 5 tonight :)  They are not even a day behind the silkies.  Works out perfect.  The mail lady asked if I had enough eggs yet! LOL  She has delivered several boxes of hatching eggs to me this summer.  I told her I don't keep them all!  She asked to see the chickens and fell in love with them.  WHO knows maybe I will inspire her to get chickens!  I told her it's a GREAT stress reliever and it really is!  THANK YOU, THANK YOU!  I'm  going to send you a check as soon as our new checks come in the mail :)  You should really sell some of your eggs on BYC...you would be SO popular and you already have ME to vouch for how great your eggs are and how well you ship.  Silkies and polish are going going for 25 bucks for 6+ eggs.  Usually they send 8  Other eggs depending on what they are go for 15 for 6

Georgia is a Sauna.  We should charge for our services to cross the border into it as a day spa.  UNBELIEVABLE!

Your journal really intrigue's me.  I love animals.  Those baby keets are so darn cute!  You have a lot of work to do with all those animals.  You are an inspiration.  Thanks for all the pics and good journaling.
