About Me

My photo
I am a 42 year old woman that is about as happy and content as one person can be. My husband of 21 years and our 15 year old daughter live on five and a half acres out in the country. We moved from the city four years ago and never looked back. I homeschool our daughter. We also love our animals. Our daughter has a miniature horse and two rabbits. We also have a border collie, two cats (again), two pot belly pigs, four peafowl, three emus, 2 llamas and an undetermined number of chickens, lets just say ohhh about 200. I have many breeds, from layers to fancy chickens. I love poultry shows, I love fowl in general as I have come to find out through having more than just chickens. Chickens will always be my first love though. I do show some of my birds occasionally.

My Sidebar Picture

So yep...thats me. The picture that used to be there...well, I bet it must have been a good ten years old. I would have put up a newer picture sooner, but I absolutely hate pictures of myself. Funny, coming from someone who adores her camera and has so much fun with it.

I had just died my roots, which werent even roots anymore. I looked like a freak with half brown half blonde hair. I tend to get busy and dont tend to my hair like I should. Someone should yell, "HEY LADY, PICK A COLOR!" LOL

Yep, I reckon I am fat. I am also 40. I have come to terms with that, mostly. I wasnt always fat. I used to be a whopping 110 pounds in my earlier years. Then I met Ians mom. Now that woman, she could cook. Now I am not blaming her for my plight. I am just saying that I never really realized how much one could enjoy food until then. Her cooking inspired my cooking and well, for a long time I cooked like that. Chicken and dumplins, pot roast with carrots, onions, and potatoes cooked in the slow cooker all day. Rice, potatoes, biscuits. Everything had to have cheese on it, or gravy.

I dont cook like that much anymore. Smaller portions, no fried meat, only baked if I can help it.

I am not a sedentary person. I am always doing stuff. Y'all know that. I dont know why I am still fat. I know part of it is heriditary. I just keep thinking if I DO enough, keep myself busy enough, I will lose some weight. Even when we got up to walking two miles a day at the Silver Comet Trail...it won't come off. Yes, I had my whatchamacallit checked. Its late, cant think of it right now, but yall know what I am talking about.

I make no apologies...that picture is me. I may be fat, but I am still me inside, and frankly, I like me, even love, who I am.

Maybe one day I will be able to lose this weight. I wish I had the courage to do what one Jlander is doing (no names, its private). She is losing the weight fast and I am so proud of her. I know she feels so much better already.

I had Ian take about ten pictures of me sitting in the rocker on the front porch. I told him I would hate them all, but would be able to choose one hopefully.

So thats as good as it gets folks. There I am, warts and all. ;)

Girl, you are BEEEEE U TIFUL!!!!   I love the hair, you make a great blonde.  I am older than you!  I am 41 for about 7 more months.

I wish we never had to deal with weight, I know those issues all to well.  Just keep in mind we all love the sweet chicken gal you are, and we loved you with red curly hair from a ten year old picture too!!!

Show us more, I bet there is more than one good picture in the 10 Ian took of you.  And I love that you are sitting in the rocker on the front porch!  I could see myself sitting there too!

I probably need to get my whatchamacallit checked as well, butt I can't remember the name of the guy in the white jacket that I have to pay for checking it. I wonder if he'll check my oil too.

I am thrilled to see you.  Hey!  I am over 40 and am fat.  I sometimes don't care and sometimes do.  My husband loves me.  He wants me to be healthier.  I'm still cooking all that stuff mentioned above and giving Paula Deen a run for her money, jk, I wish I had her money.  Not kidding.  I have to take medications for different reasons now and not so happily one of the side affects is weight gain right through the middle.  Now I'm as big in the front as I am in the back and that's saying something.  I look 9 months pregnant.  I am in a self loathing period right now that I am trying to snap out of.

My hair needs to be colored again.  I use a soft black on it as that's my natural color and I'm trying to get the grey out, not change my color.  I've let it get so long and gray this time and I am not sure I like it.  I don't like the way my hair looks right after I have colored it, for it looks like I've taken a can of spray paint to my head.  I don't dig the biker chic look on me.  That's just my personal opinion.  After a few washes it softens up.

Tonight while Katie was refusing to finish picking up her toys, the thunder began to roll and as she'd just gotten out of Vacation Bible school and already was lying in the floor fussing, we told her that God wasn't pleased with her when she didn't mind her parents, and you know what?  She moved!  At this age, out of desparation, I'm grasping at anything.  LOL.  Thought you'd get a kick out of it.

The humidity was like a convection oven out there.  I am so glad you are so very attentive to your animals.

I think you are a beautiful person inside and outside. We all begin to gain some weight at sometime or other. I used to be a 99 to 100 lb. person myself until just before I met Ken around 19 years ago then the weight started coming on. LOL. I have lost some the last couple of years but still carry to much weight. Hugs, Helen

Liked seeing the picture. When you are ready you will get the wieght under control. We can't all be skinny.
I read or reread you write up and enjoyed your story.
As active as you are with the animals it is hard to believe you are overweight, you can't possibly need any more exercse than you get. Good luck, Bill

You look lovely.  In reading your side bar...I see you folks have become farmers. I was raised on a little 10 acre farm so I know all about the work involved in keeping animals.  We had chickens too but just my mom's favorite Rhode Island Red's. I had to feed them and gather eggs and I remember being sort of afraid of them because they always pecked my arms when I reached for the eggs. We have a mutual friend~ the weight loosing one.   LOL      Linda in Washington state

I like your picture and I think you are lovely!!!  Not only are you beautiful on the surface but more importantly you are beautiful on the inside too.  Ah, don't stress about your weight, it isn't worth it in the end. You have been blessed with a terrific husband & child, good family and lets not forget the wonderful critters, focus on that and not the other bs that can clutter our lives.
