About Me

My photo
I am a 42 year old woman that is about as happy and content as one person can be. My husband of 21 years and our 15 year old daughter live on five and a half acres out in the country. We moved from the city four years ago and never looked back. I homeschool our daughter. We also love our animals. Our daughter has a miniature horse and two rabbits. We also have a border collie, two cats (again), two pot belly pigs, four peafowl, three emus, 2 llamas and an undetermined number of chickens, lets just say ohhh about 200. I have many breeds, from layers to fancy chickens. I love poultry shows, I love fowl in general as I have come to find out through having more than just chickens. Chickens will always be my first love though. I do show some of my birds occasionally.

Mama and Hank

Photobucket Photobucket

If Mama could have a rooster, I think that rooster would be Hank. She has loved him from the very start when I brought him to their house straight from the feed store in Jonesboro. I have told Hanks story before. His owner was going off to college and couldnt care for him anymore. I just happened to be in town and went by my old feed store to visit and they gave him to me knowing he was going to a good home. Hank is a special rooster. A lot of people think he is mean, he does look like he could hurt you, but he is really very sweet.

I picked him up out of the yard and brought him up so Mama could see him. He immediately was cooing and talking softly back to Mama as she was talking to him. He really is a sweet boy.

Daddy took these pictures while they were here over the weekend and I did a little of this and that to them, just fooling around on photobucket.

Mama loves her Hank. :)

SO that's where you get your great big heart, huh?  She's so loving with him.  He knows it too.

Love that picture of your Mother and the chicken. Being born, raised and living in a surburban area. I never knew anyone who raised chickens and did not realize they could become pets.
Thanks for broading my outlook, Bill
