No, not kids...my emus! They are growing so fast. I love to watch them. They were so happy when I let Derby out. He doesnt really care either way as long as he gets to EAT. We are monitoring that closely. He gets to eat for about two hours...and believe me, he gets his fill. Then its time to go back to drylot world. We have gotten him down to a decent weight and I want to keep it that way. He looks and feels so much better these days.
I want to hug and cuddle an emu so bad! I dont think they are the huggy kissie type though. You can touch them, when you are feeding them. Boo even let me sit right next to him for awhile the other day. Its funny, when the goats come up for attention, they will seem to want some attention too, like they are jealous. When I try to reach out to them though they back off. We have plenty of time though. Nothing but time. They are young. They will relax more with time.
Here we go...some pictures I just took...and a couple of videos to enjoy too. Hope everyone is having a fine Thursday. It is warm and sunny here today. My kind of weather. :)
Boo saying HI below...
Yep, thats the goats out there too. The horse and the goats and the emus all get along just fine. One of my Speckled Sussex gave up on being paid attention to as you can see her wandering off towards Derby. Hey! I was busy shooting video! ;)

I loved seeing the Emus! I would want to be able to hug on them as well. They just look so woolly and huggable. (Hugs) Indigo
They are getting soooo big now. When they get grown they will probably be taller than Derby. Thanks for sharing. Helen
Thanks for sharing the emus with us. They certainly have grown and are looking great, Bill
Kelly I do hope the day will come when you get to hug your Emu's they are lovely ~ they all look happy to be together ~ Ally x
My chickens do that jealous but back away thing too. They will fight over who gets to sit closest to me on the perch but will back away if I reach into the cage.
Good that they all get along so well so you don't have to referee. Everything looks pretty and green your way. I think emus are so interesting. Which animal do you want that you don't have? Paula
Derby looks great. Those emus are funny looking birds, especially when they are sitting! Linda
They are so cool ! I'd love to pet them. Is their disposition similar to ostrichs?

I thought of something not long ago and wondered if you were too young to remember a show in the 70s called THE HUDSON BROTHER'S RAZZLE DAZZLE show. It had a man on it who was a comedian and he had an EMU puppet. He was hilarious. Not as good as Jeff Dunham, who could be that funny, but he was funny for his day. Just wondered if you'd ever seen or heard of it. The man's name was Ron Hull and he was more famous in England and Australia than the US.

They are so awesome, I would want to hug & kiss them too. You will, a lady in another town was on tv hugging hers. How cool everyone gets along so well.

The emus always look like they are one strong breeze away from falling on their rear ends! ;)
