About Me

My photo
I am a 42 year old woman that is about as happy and content as one person can be. My husband of 21 years and our 15 year old daughter live on five and a half acres out in the country. We moved from the city four years ago and never looked back. I homeschool our daughter. We also love our animals. Our daughter has a miniature horse and two rabbits. We also have a border collie, two cats (again), two pot belly pigs, four peafowl, three emus, 2 llamas and an undetermined number of chickens, lets just say ohhh about 200. I have many breeds, from layers to fancy chickens. I love poultry shows, I love fowl in general as I have come to find out through having more than just chickens. Chickens will always be my first love though. I do show some of my birds occasionally.

Horse Help/Giant Cochins

I really was trying to take some pictures of Buck Buck, Beauty and Babe, but Derby really wanted my attention...really.

If your wondering what the thing is on the hens back, it is called a saddle. Babe had one on too, but she got nekkid at some point and took hers off. ;) It is to protect the hens back and sides from getting worn and cut up from the male mating them.

Here are a few pictures of some horse face helping and a few of the giant cochins chilling out. The video is of Derby getting his attention he wanted. ;)

This is the last entry for the week for me. I got to get out and mow before the rain comes and of course I take the weekend off from the computer since Ian is home all weekend. No big plans this weekend. Just hanging around home puttering about. Everyone have a nice weekend and I will see you on Monday.

Love to all,

Kelly

I was over at the Arnold farm the other day and some of those chickens had bare naked butts.  I think they are at the bottom of the pecking order there!  Derby really seems to enjoy people!  Linda

Just cool.
Went to my cousins for the Derby Party and was going to show off his chickens......apparently, a racoon got them all! So there are no more. Sad

Based on the size of the roos those poor girls need a saddle.  LOL.  Derby is such a sweetheart ~ I will watch the vids from home, can't do it here.  Enjoy your day!
