About Me

My photo
I am a 42 year old woman that is about as happy and content as one person can be. My husband of 21 years and our 15 year old daughter live on five and a half acres out in the country. We moved from the city four years ago and never looked back. I homeschool our daughter. We also love our animals. Our daughter has a miniature horse and two rabbits. We also have a border collie, two cats (again), two pot belly pigs, four peafowl, three emus, 2 llamas and an undetermined number of chickens, lets just say ohhh about 200. I have many breeds, from layers to fancy chickens. I love poultry shows, I love fowl in general as I have come to find out through having more than just chickens. Chickens will always be my first love though. I do show some of my birds occasionally.

Farm Tour???

Photobucket

Its unbelievable how some ADULTS conduct themselves.

Friday I was a late morning sleeper. We had gone out to Birmingham, AL to the Alabama Theater to see Jeff Dunham and his array of puppets. Remember those clips I posted a while back of him? More about that later, this is more of a rant, a steamed rant.

Anyway, we didnt get back home til almost one thirty in the morning. Ian still had to get up at five and go to work. I let the animals out at daylight and went back to bed.

Why am I telling all this. Well, for one thing I was still in my nightgown. For another I didnt have any eggs that morning. I was sold out.

So when two ladies came pulling up ( maybe been here twice, not regular every week customers) I was just not going to answer the door when they knocked. I wasnt dressed and didnt have eggs anyway.

The knock never came. I got up from what I was doing to investigate the lack of knocking or ringing of the doorbell. I went upstairs to look out of Shelbys bathroom window. You can see the whole back of the property from there.

Well, your not going to believe this. These two women just helped themselves to wandering around the back yard. Giving themselves a tour of my animals! Opened the gate and went right on through.

What if I had had an animal loose back there that could have hurt them? Then what? Would I get sued by these idiots? I could hardly believe my eyes.

I went and got Shelby, told her to take a gander out the back. She had a stricken look on her face, as I know I did when I first saw them wandering about back there.

She said, WHAT are they doing???

Itold her I guessed they were taking a tour, helping themselves to a look see.

Her first reaction was telling me to be sure to watch and make sure they dont steal any animals.

Once they finally left the back, they came onto the back screen porch and knocked.

Oh no, they did not want me to come to the door NOW. Not NOW.

So I held my breath, held my tongue and waited for them to leave.

The next day I went to Walmart I got two NO TRESPASSING signs, one for each gate, AND I put the locks BACK on the gate. Ian hadnt liked them being on there, it was inconvenient and irritated him. I put them back on, and put up the signs.

As Bill Engvall would say...

HERES YOUR SIGN.....

ladies.

What a couple of dummies. You dont just go walking back into someones property like that! What is wrong with people?

Just because I am nice to you and friendly, and if you ask I will give you a tour of my animals does not give you free range to come and take a tour anytime you damn well please!!! Good GRIEF! UGH!

It is a shame that we have to put locks and signs up...but there is no shortage of stupid people here in the area...so I did what had to be done.

But can you believe it? Can you? How embarrassed will they be, the next time they come to get eggs, and see the locks and the signs up. Probably won't even register in their foggy brains that it was them that caused it all.

I agree, they probably won't even "get it". I don't even know what to say to this kind of trespassing. Paula

Some people!  Too bad your fence isn't hooked up to electric.  Maybe that would've made them think twice about going where they don't belong!  ;)
Jeff is coming here in a few months.  I'm not sure if we'll be going but I would love to.  I would like to take my daughter (she LOVES achmed) but I doubt they would look too highly on a three year old going to a comedy show where he uses the f-word.  ;)  Plus, Jasmine now says "I KILL you!"  LMAO

There you go girl. Take care of your property. They had no business going back there without permission and they could have called and got it not just drove up and made themselves at home. Hugs, Helen

Kelly what cheek wonder what those ladies would say if you went touring their property without permission ? ~ as you say though they probably won't realise it was them that caused to to put the signs up and the locks on the gate :o( ~ Ally x

I have to wonder how they'd feel if they woke up to find you in their back yards having a picnic.  Haaaaaaaaaaa!!!!

I could see a close friend or relative thinking it would be OK to give a tour, but an occasional egg customer?  No way!

I'm not surprised at all...know what I get to do this summer? Go through the 7 lots of woods I own and clean up where people have walked through and dumped. We need to put up a fence. Property leans down a hill offset the backyards of a few people , who just dump whatever over the hill. I'm putting up no dumping signs and I'm going to warn them if I have to clean it up again, I'm going to report them for illegal dumping and sue them. I'm sick of it, we wanted the extra lots for the wooded area. We live on the end of a deadend. Just because they don't own it doesn't mean they have the right to do whatever they please with it.

People have no respect for someone else's property at all these days. I would of gone out there and scared the be-jesus out of those women. Perhaps they would think twice before making themselves at home somewhere they were not invited. (Hugs) Indigo

Oh I know what you mean!!!  On our 20 acres in the summer I walk my regular trail out there and sometimes I will run into people walking on my trail!  Now, mind you...if they would have ASKED I would have said fine BUT PLEASE DO NOT LITTER on my property!  I was picking up junk for a week after they were walking on it.  This summer I'm going to politely ask them to stay off our property.  AND WE DO Have no trespassing signs up! lol  Some people have no brains!~  And NO they could not have sued you if your turkey would have attacked them...ha wouldn't that have been funny...because we had something like that happen where a young boy came into our back yard that was fenced in and latched and our dog bit him and they tried to sue us but the judge threw it out...the kid was in OUR backyard and he came in on his own without being invited!

Oh boy can I relate to this!!!  YES, unfortunately I DO believe you.  We have had the same thing happen here...people used to come in like it was some kind of freakin' public park.  They would mosey all around the barn, open gates to the animals and then wonder why we would get mad.  We put big electric gates on the front now and no one can come in unless they are already opened.  I flew off the handle one day ~ these people drove in, all the way back to my cathouse and were having a picnic - yes, eating their McDonalds food.  I went ballistic on them and they high tailed out of here pretty fast ~ without their milkshake that fell off the roof!

I have come to a conclusion, people are just rude & inconsiderate.

Wow, that is no different than wondering into someone's block fenced backyard!  Maybe you need a smith and wesson sign too!

It won't register in their brains.  I cannot imagine doing something like that.  I think I would have TRESSPASSERS WILL BE SHOT ON SITE, sign or something like that.  How did they not know if you had a big hungry dog or something?  THE NERVE!  I would have opened that door on them and told them off and escorted them off the property.  On what planet is that ever ok?  Grrrrr!!!!!

Thanks for tagging me.  I'm off to do it now.

I sure did miss you alot.

You have got to be KIDDING!!!!  I can't believe that people can be so stupid!!!!  I would have probably went storming out there in my PJs & asked them just what the HECK do you think you're doing.  You're right they probably won't realize that the signs are up because of them.    DUH
